✝️ Old Testament vs. Jesus: Is It the Same God?
Some people wonder: how can the God of the Old Testament — fire, judgment, law — be the same as the God of Jesus, who forgives, heals, and calls us His children?
📖 The Bible gives us a clear answer: God has never changed.
“I the Lord do not change.” — Malachi 3:6 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
What has changed is not God — but how much we could understand Him. In the Old Testament, people often related to God through fear, law, and external obedience. They saw Him as a distant ruler — but they did not yet know His heart.
Then Jesus came and said something radical:
“No one has ever seen God; but the one and only Son… has made Him known.” — John 1:18
🕊️ Jesus didn’t introduce a new God. He revealed the Father who had always been there — misunderstood, misrepresented, but full of mercy.
Yes, the Old Testament has moments of judgment and wrath — but also deep moments of love, justice, and promise. And through it all, it pointed toward a Savior who would one day show the full picture.
💡 What Jesus Revealed About God
- He is not a tyrant — He is a loving Father. (Luke 15)
- He desires mercy, not sacrifice. (Matthew 9:13)
- He blesses even the ungrateful. (Matthew 5:45)
- He came not to condemn, but to save. (John 3:17)
The God of fire is also the God of love.
🔥 He is holy — but also patient, kind, and closer than breath.
It took Jesus to show us the truth we missed:
God is not who the enemy said He was.
God is who Jesus showed He is.
❤️ Final Thought
Jesus didn’t erase the Old Testament — He fulfilled it. He connected the dots. He corrected distortions. He brought us home. If you’ve ever feared God because of what you’ve read or heard — look again at Jesus. That’s the real image of the Father.
“If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father.” — John 14:9
